Columbia Nights – In All Things

Washington DC trio Columbia Nights first caught my attention back in 2012 with their debut EP Dawn | Dusk. Since then they’ve released a bunch of quality singles that have kept me craving more and hoping for a full-length album. And now finally my wish has come true with the release of In All Things through Record Breakin’ Music.

The 10-track LP is packed with the lush and soulful sound that made me fall in love with these guys in the first place. A mix of stellar production, funky bass lines, a host of quality vocalists, attention to detail, and a whole lot of passion has resulted in a really well-crafted album that is well worth checking out. You can do exactly that right here.

Columbia Nights – My Groove feat. SassyBlack

It’s been a while since we last heard from Washington D.C. based production crew Columbia Nights but good things take time I guess. The trio recently released this little gem My Groove featuring vocals from SassyBlack of THEESatisfaction. Loving the bass and percussion on this one and just about everything else for that matter.

Now these guys will have a full length album for us some time this year but they need a little help to get it pressed on vinyl so they’re running a Kickstarter campaign. Head there to help this talented crew out and make sure you pick up a free download of My Groove in the meantime from their Soundcloud page.

Columbia Nights – Heart Aglow

I always take notice when Columbia Nights release new music, simply because it’s always quality. This new track from the Washington D.C based production crew was inspired by a little known British band from the 80s called I-Level. The guys were nice enough to give it away for free too so make sure you go get it!

Columbia Nights – All In

Columbia Nights found inspiration from a couple of musical greats to come up with their latest track. Here’s what they had to say about it:

ÔÇťAmong the LPs that grace our turntables, Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters and Flying Lotus’ Until the Quiet Comes stay in heavy rotation. Recognizing common threads across two incredible records released almost forty years apart, we asked ourselves an interesting question: What if Herbie and the Head Hunters covered the work of FlyLo and his partner Thundercat? We’ve revisited this challenge on and off while developing our new sounds.”

If you like the sound of this, make sure you grab a free download here. Keep an ear out for Dawn | Dusk: The Remixes dropping June 17 too.

Hayling – AutoPilot

Some of you may know Hayling Price from his group Columbia Nights and their Dawn | Dusk EP. The group is midway through recording their new LP but they’ve also been busy doing some solo stuff too including this nice little instrumental from Hayling which you can grab a free download of from Soundcloud.

Columbia Nights – Make Some Room

About a month back we did a post on Columbia Nights‘ debut EP Dawn | Dusk which is well worth checking out if you haven’t already. Now the duo have released this single Make Some Room, a cover of Sade‘s 1988 song of the same name which was the B Side of their single Nothing Can Come Between Us. They got a little help from Vaughan Octavia on vocals and Brother Spanky on production too. Take a listen below and get a free download from their Soundcloud page.

Columbia Nights – Dawn | Dusk

About a month ago the duo of Hayling Price and John E Daise, collectively known as Columbia Nights dropped this nice little EP Dawn | Dusk on Record Breakin’ Music. The charming and cohesive EP features vocalist Sarai Abdul-Malik on four of the seven tracks and plays well from start to finish. You can stream and buy the whole thing on Bandcamp. For now take a listen to the song The Firmament and as a little bonus you can also peep the video for As You Are.
